Beer Bread

Recently I had the pleasure of attending a Tastefully Simple party at a friends house. I purchased several of their dip mixes & they arrived yesterday. I didn't buy the beer bread mix, mostly because I can make that myself. This recipe is almost as easy as using a mix. In fact I might whip together a couple batches & store them, just add beer & bake, YUMMY!

I go the recipe from Cooks Recipes

I do not keep self-rising flour on hand so I followed the "make your own" directions. I also didn't have the full 12oz of beer (I wasn't opening a full bottle!) I had a cup & added enough water to make up the difference. I used a heavier lager so there were no taste issues, I might not have done it if I was using light beer.

I baked the loaf in one of my new loaf pans (auction find!) & served it up with some Garlic Garlic Dip dip

Beer Bread

3 cups self-rising flour*
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 (12-ounce) can of beer
Preheat oven to 375*F (190*C). Lightly grease or spray a 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray.
Combine all ingredients, mixing well.
Pour into prepared loaf pan and bake for 1 hour.
Makes 1 loaf.

*Or you may substitute with 3 cups all purpose flour, 3 teaspoons baking powder and 1 1/2 teaspoons salt.

This looks like the quickest and easiest bread recipe ever -- I'm going to go make some right this minute! Thanks!
